Capital.com

Capital.com launched in 2016 and has grown rapidly into one of Europe's largest CFD brokers, surpassing $1.7 trillion in client trading volume in 2024. Founded by Viktor Prokopenya through his investment firm VP Capital, Capital.com combines AI-driven trading insights with commission-free CFD trading across 5,000+ instruments. The broker now supports MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, TradingView, and its own proprietary platform — making it a viable option for MT5 traders who also value AI-powered analysis and a low-cost fee structure.

Regulation, Safety, and Ownership

Capital.com holds licences from six regulators: the FCA in the UK (licence 793714), CySEC in Cyprus (319/17), ASIC in Australia (AFSL 513393), SCB in the Bahamas (company 209236B), SCA in the UAE (licence 20200000176), and FSA Seychelles (SD101). In January 2026, the broker also received a licence from Kenya's Capital Markets Authority (CMA, licence 244). This multi-jurisdictional setup places Capital.com among the most heavily regulated brokers in the industry.

Under FCA regulation, client funds are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) up to £85,000. CySEC clients benefit from the Investor Compensation Fund up to €20,000. All entities maintain segregated client accounts and negative balance protection for retail traders. Maximum leverage is capped at 1:30 for retail clients under FCA, CySEC, and ASIC, consistent with ESMA guidelines. The Bahamas entity offers up to 1:200 and the UAE entity up to 1:500.

Capital.com is privately owned by Viktor Prokopenya through VP Capital, a London-based investment firm. The company raised $25 million in Series A funding from VP Capital. Kypros Zoumidou was appointed Group CEO in November 2023.

Account Types and Trading Conditions

Capital.com uses a simplified account structure rather than a tiered system. Retail traders get a single universal CFD account with a low minimum deposit of $20 by card ($50 by bank transfer). Professional accounts are available for eligible clients seeking higher leverage and fewer restrictions.

Additionally, the broker offers separate MT4 and MT5 CFD accounts for traders who prefer MetaTrader platforms, a 1X account (UK only) for unleveraged long-only CFD trading with no overnight fees, Islamic (swap-free) accounts for eligible clients, and demo accounts with up to $100,000 in virtual funds.

Trading is commission-free across all CFDs, with costs embedded in the spread. EUR/USD spreads start from 0.6 pips — ForexBrokers.com measured an average of 0.64 pips in October 2025. There are no deposit, withdrawal, or account maintenance fees. However, a currency conversion fee of 0.70% applies when trading instruments denominated in a different currency than your account. Overnight fees combine Capital.com's 4% annual fee with the relevant benchmark rate (SOFR for USD, SONIA for GBP). An inactivity fee of $10/month applies after 12 months of inactivity for CySEC and Bahamas clients, but not for FCA clients.

Capital.com offers over 5,000 CFD instruments across six asset classes: approximately 147 forex pairs, 5,500+ share CFDs, 28 indices, 43 commodities, 500+ cryptocurrency CFDs, and 800+ ETF CFDs.

Instruments and Markets

Capital.com offers over 5,000 CFD instruments across six asset classes: approximately 147 forex pairs, 5,500+ share CFDs, 28 indices, 43 commodities, 500+ cryptocurrency CFDs, and 800+ ETF CFDs. The crypto offering is particularly notable — Capital.com has one of the widest crypto selections among regulated CFD brokers.

All instruments are traded as CFDs — Capital.com does not offer real stock or ETF ownership. This is purely a derivatives broker. For traders focused on CFDs, the instrument range is among the broadest available, competing with and often exceeding what brokers like IC Markets or Pepperstone offer in terms of total markets.

Platforms: MT4, MT5, TradingView, and Proprietary

Capital.com supports four trading platforms: its proprietary web and mobile platform, MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, and TradingView. The proprietary platform features AI-powered trading insights that flag cognitive biases in trading behavior, identify patterns in loss history, and surface real-time market sentiment data — a unique feature no other major broker offers natively.

MT5 support means traders can use Expert Advisors, custom indicators, and advanced order management across 100+ forex pairs, 30+ commodities, 20+ indices, and selected stocks. This opens the door for algorithmic and systematic traders who were previously unable to use Capital.com. TradingView integration provides access to TradingView's charting tools and indicator library with direct order execution.

The mobile app is consistently rated among the best in the industry, contributing to Capital.com's 4.6/5 Trustpilot rating across 14,000+ reviews.
