LULU Trading Hours & Best Sessions Guide

LULU has three distinct trading windows each day. Pre-Market runs from 10:00 to 14:30 UTC, the Regular session from 14:30 to 21:00 UTC, and After-Hours from 21:00 to 01:00 UTC.

The Regular session (14:30–21:00 UTC) is the NYSE/Nasdaq core window — this is when institutional desks, market makers, and algorithmic systems are fully active. Volume is highest here. Pre-market and after-hours sessions exist, but participation drops sharply outside regular hours, which directly affects how efficiently your orders get filled.

For US Eastern Time traders: Regular hours run 9:30 AM–4:00 PM ET. For London-based traders, that's 2:30 PM–9:00 PM GMT (or 3:30 PM–10:00 PM BST during summer). Sydney traders are looking at midnight to 7:00 AM AEST — a tough window that requires automation or alerts.

Most professional equity traders focus on two windows: the opening hour (14:30–15:30 UTC) and the closing hour (20:00–21:00 UTC). These periods consistently generate the highest volume and the sharpest directional moves in LULU.

The open is driven by overnight news digestion, gap fills, and institutional order flow hitting the market simultaneously. LULU, as a consumer discretionary stock, is particularly sensitive to retail sales data and earnings — both of which tend to move the stock hard at the open.

The close matters for a different reason: portfolio rebalancing, index fund activity, and end-of-day position squaring all concentrate in the final 30–60 minutes. Price discovery becomes more efficient, and momentum trades can resolve cleanly.

Mid-session (roughly 16:30–18:30 UTC) is the quietest period. Volume thins, spreads can widen slightly, and price action often chops without direction. Scalpers typically avoid this window.

Spreads on LULU are tightest during the Regular session — typically within a few cents of the mid-price when volume is strong. During pre-market and after-hours, reduced liquidity means market makers widen their quotes to compensate for higher inventory risk. A spread that sits at $0.02–$0.05 during regular hours can expand to $0.15–$0.40 in after-hours trading.

This matters most if you're trading around earnings. Since 2020, LULU has consistently reported earnings after market close — meaning the initial price reaction happens in after-hours, where spreads are at their widest.
